Needs a Favor

Alright, I need someone who knows 'bout magic and stuff. I wanna put a spell into a piece of jewelery and I don't know how. Need someone ta help me or put the spell in it. Actually, I need ta do it twice.

Apparently I need someone who's skilled with enchantments. The long-term, doesn't wear off kinda thing.

[Action]

[Duo's stolen the necklace he gave to Hijiri for Valentine's Day. Hopefully the musician doesn't notice that it's been replaced by a duplicate. Then again, Duo's acting suspicious, sticking close to Hijiri's side since he doesn't have the protection of the necklace and he's hiding his journal.]

(ooc: Also, Nami, is it alright to say that Duo already stole it? I know we were going to do something with that, but Duo needs it for plot. We can say he stole it in the shower while the soap and Duo's hair was distracting?)

Sure. You wanna divide and conquer? I need ta find where I put that spell and I need ta find some metal ta work and we need a chair or a piece of leather ta put it on.

Sure! I can go get a chair and find some leather.

(ooc: That was supposed to be chain, but chair works.)

Great. I'm gunna run off to the shop and then go scrounge for that spell. Think I know where I hid it. [Of course he knows where it is. He kisses Hijiri quickly before turning and heading out of the house.]

[kisses back a bit and heads out for the marketplace as well and soon come back with a thin leather strap and a length of chain that he thinks might work with the pendant]

[Duo takes a little longer since he was looking for a while. He has to find just the right metal after all. Then he's heading into, believe it or not, Ryuhou's room. Where else was he supposed to hide his research? He comes back after a while with a handful of paper.]

[Hijiri waits for him in the dining room, fiddling with the length of leather and chain he's found.]

All set?

Should be. [Duo hands the papers over to Hijiri and takes a seat. he concentrates on the metal and it slowly heats, becoming almost liquid in his hand. He moves and it does become liquid in the cup of his hand. He pants for a moment before it heats more and little flames appear as impurities are burned off of the silver. He lets a breath out and it cools to a workable solid. Then Duo's scarred fingers start the slow process of working the metal into the right shape, smoothing it until the surface is almost a mirror.]

[Hijiri watches, rather amazed that Duo can do all this with bare hands.]

What shape are you planning to make it?

[Duo seems really distracted and he's slow in answering.] Circle. Doesn't show love like yours. Different.

[His hands keep moving, making it as perfect as possible as he slowly lets it cool. Then he just kind of slouches back into the chair.]

... are you alright, Duo?

[colony_brat]

[Duo nods and breathes a little before he looks up at Hijiri. He's still slumped and his hands with the piece of metal are just resting in his lap.] Yeah. Gotta rest and I need some tools 'fore I finish.

What tools do you need? I can go get them for you.

[colony_brat]

[Duo snorts before a strong flick of his head sends his braid over his shoulder.] Got 'em. Did you think I keep all this metal in my hair for fun~?

[He teases as he breathes for another moment and then pulls two picks from his braid.] Can you hold the spell up for me so I can see it? [He starts heating the metal again.]

[laughs] Oh yeah, your multi-purpose hair~!

Huh? How do I do that?

[colony_brat]

[Duo pauses and lets the metal cool while he reaches for the papers he got earlier. He hands them to Hijiri before positioning his arms so Duo can see the spell. His hands are hot, very hot, to the touch, but luckily he doesn't touch Hijiri for long so he doesn't have to worry about burning his love.] There. Just stand like that so I can see it while I work. Thanks, love.

[Then he starts heating the metal.]

[laughs] I thought you wanted me to hold the metal or keep up the magic or something. Sure. [takes the papers and holds them up] Is this alright?

[colony_brat]

's good. Thanks. [He sounds distracted again as he takes the blunter of his tools and starts working the tool through the metal. He has to work slowly so he doesn't mess up his smooth surface.]

[And he watches carefully as he holds up the notes]

[Duo eventually works a hole through the metal so they can string something through it. Then he switches to the sharper pick and starts studying the spell. His eyes move back and forth as he carefully scratches the design into the metal. His hand moves slowly, but surely as it takes form. Eventually it's complete and Duo leans back for a moment before reaching into his shirt again. When he pulls it out, there's a small drop of blood forming on his fingertip. He presses it into the cooling metal, letting it fill the swirling lines of the design.] There.

(ooc: I've forgotten. They're making this for Ryuhou, right?)

[Hijiri's eyes widen a bit at the sight of blood] ... Duo? What was that for?

((Yeah, it's for Ryu.))

[colony_brat]

[Duo looks up after a moment.] What? Oh, it's ummm... blood magic. Didn't wanna tell ya, but it seemed ta be the only thing that I could do. I can prick my fingers just fine. Blood to protect blood or somethin'.

... it only works with blood? [looks down at his own pendant] ... is your finger alright?

[colony_brat]

[Duo closes his eyes and leans back in the chair for a moment.] Huh? Oh, yeah, I'm fine. 's just a little cut. Not bad. The blood's supposed ta stop more blood or something. I don't really get the theory behind it.
