Needs a Favor

Alright, I need someone who knows 'bout magic and stuff. I wanna put a spell into a piece of jewelery and I don't know how. Need someone ta help me or put the spell in it. Actually, I need ta do it twice.

Apparently I need someone who's skilled with enchantments. The long-term, doesn't wear off kinda thing.

[Duo's stolen the necklace he gave to Hijiri for Valentine's Day. Hopefully the musician doesn't notice that it's been replaced by a duplicate. Then again, Duo's acting suspicious, sticking close to Hijiri's side since he doesn't have the protection of the necklace and he's hiding his journal.]

(ooc: Also, Nami, is it alright to say that Duo already stole it? I know we were going to do something with that, but Duo needs it for plot. We can say he stole it in the shower while the soap and Duo's hair was distracting?)

[There's a moment of silence before Duo stands up quickly, tearing himself away from Sheik, spins, and pushes him off the log.] YOU ASS! YOU FUCKIN' STABBED ME!

[...He should've known that was coming. He doesn't bother trying to defend himself, or even really do anything. He just falls back and doesn't get up.]

...Would you rather I had actually hurt you?

[Duo's hand pats down his side as he looks at Sheik. Then he looks at the disk in his had. This was all for Hijiri after all. Sheik didn't really hurt him. Just scared the hell out of him. He sighs and bends over the long to offer Sheik a hand.] No.

[Sheik looks at the offered hand, then Duo, but doesn't move to get up immediately. Duo's upset with him now, isn't he? He should have done something else... or...]

[He ignores Duo's offer and stands. Little unsteady, but he'll manage. Just needs to rest a bit.]

Yeah, yeah, been stabbed before and didn't like it then either. First time a friend stabbed me for good reason and it wasn't even fuckin' real. [He crosses his arms, kind of sulking.]

[Sheik sighs and starts to leave.]

I can do the necklace tomorrow.

Stop. [There's a moment.] I'm not mad. Not really. I can't believe ya did that. Hell, barely know what ya did. Still, it was better than really stabbin' me and we had ta know how it worked, right? I need ta destroy this thing anyway. I don't want someone else gettin' ahold... wait. Shady, why don't you keep this? You can keep an eye on me this way.

[He holds out the little disk to his friend.]

[Sheik pauses and looks back over his shoulder.]

... [He nods, and turns back to take it from Duo. He tucks it into the wraps on his wrist, then turns to go once more. He really wanted to get home to rest, before he ends up passing out or something in the forest.]

Shady? Are you gunna be alright? You don't look so hot. [He really doesn't. Hell, he didn't look good before. Now it's worse. Duo hurries to catch up with him.]

...I used too much magic. I simply need to rest.

I'll walk you home. [And he's not taking no for an answer.] This has been a weird day...

[Sheik just nods and is silent the entire way back.]

[Duo's surprisingly quiet as well as he tries to figure out what just happened and how he feels about it. Finally, just as they're coming to Sheik's door, Duo's come to a decision.] What ya did was for Hijiri, so he'd know I was okay and stuff. I'm willin' ta get fake stabbed for him so no hard feelings.

[Sheik blinks, then shakes his head.] I should not have done that. [He goes inside and makes a beeline for the couch, which he all but collapses onto.]

[Running away is Duo's shtick. He follows Sheik inside.] Well, it was somethin' like that, actually try ta kill me, let me hurt myself, or I go find someone ta piss off REALLY bad.

I would rather you did not get yourself hurt. [He curls up on his side, with his head resting on the arm of the couch.]

Exactly, so fake hurtin' me was a really good idea. [Duo stands near his head and reaches out to brush away the blond bangs a bit.] Seriously.

Perhaps... [Sheik knocks Duo's hand away.] Please do not do that.

Sorry. Ya know I like ta touch. Don't beat yourself up 'bout this like ya do everythin' else.

[He sighs.] I will try not to.

Would it help if I knocked you in the head or somethin'? We could say we're even. [Duo really doesn't want Sheik to beat himself up over this. It's all for Hijiri so that makes everything worth it.]

No. This tiredness is enough.

Can I pat you shoulder 'fore I go or you gunna shrug that off too? And I'm gunna send Dieb ta look after ya.

If you wish to. [He only doesn't like having his hair touched, at this point.]

[Duo puts his hand on his friend's shoulder and repeats himself.] Don't beat yourself up. I'm not mad. Still a bit confused, but not mad.
