Down, but Not Out

[Duo's been quiet for a while. He's been minding his own business and sitting in the clinic. He's been too tired and weak to do much besides healing and eating very small amounts of bland food. At least the clinic is full of nice people who help him. He's also been sticking close to the blinded Hijiri. He's worried about his lover and doing everything he can to watches out for him.

Still, it's time for him to return to their house. He's sick of being in the clinic. His hands are too sore to write.]

Can someone help Hijiri and I get back to our house? I'm sick a bein' here, nice as Kam and everyone is. Just don't like clinics.

Also, I need to talk to the followin' people 'fore somethin' else happens to me. Don't know if ya guys are still 'round.

Allen, Haine, Leto, Sasarai, Uriko, and Val. Also, can you come check on me, Kam? Need ta talk to ya too.

[Sheik takes Duo's hand and scoops up Dieb.] Leave them be, little one.

[Duo sighs happily with Hijiri's arms around him and Sheik's hand in his. At least he can be sure two of the people important to him are safe. Even Dieb seems to be the same. All and all, things are pretty good for the pilot.]

[Dieb's still too excited to understand that she needs to calm down. She starts climbing all over Sheik's arm, sniffing and trying to get into this clothes to look for goodies.] But I wanna play. I've been so bored. Why can't I play? Kit's being boring again. He didn't even bring me any treats after being gone so long. He's always leaving me behind. He should look for me harder.

(ooc: Dieb likes to figure out what people smell like and name them because of it. What would Sheik smell like? Duo smells like blood, gunpowder, and death to give you some idea.)

[Dieb won't be able to get into much. There's a pouch of Deku Nuts that might be interesting, but it's doubtful that they taste very good. Otherwise, it's just his usual several dozen throwing weapons.]

[Dieb's used to finding weapons on people so she's careful around them.] You're another hunter, aren't you? You must be. You smell like a hunter. But you also smell like the place where Kit gets the things that go into his food. You don't have treats, do you? I like treats.

[Soft snoring noises come from Duo. For some reason, whatever the Malnosso pumped him full of, seems to have resulted in a light snore while he sleeps.]

I am afraid not little one. [It's a little strange being investigated by a talking animal, but Sheik finds he doesn't mind it too much.]

Aw, you don't? That's no fun. What else do you have on you? [And now she's going to actually try to get into his clothes to find something to steal for her horde of stuff.]

(ooc: I'd forgotten Duo was already asleep.)

[Nope, still not much of interest besides weapons and Deku Nuts. ...Hopefully she doesn't decide to chew on those.] I carry little that would be interesting, unfortunately.

[Sheik glances down at Duo and Hijiri. Perhaps he should take Dieb to the other room, so as not to disturb the two of them...]

[She's going to be a bored ferret. Poor thing. But the nuts are almost interesting. She hasn't seen anything like those before so she's going to take one. She bounces and dashes away from Sheik with her stolen prize to go put it in her nest in the closet. The nest under the bed wasn't a good idea. It was too noisy.]

[...She'd better not make it explode. She'd stun herself. Sheik slips his hand out of Duo's and moves to follow the ferret.] I would advise not dropping that or attempting to eat it.

[Oh, she probably will just because that's what you do when you're curious about things. She'd recover though. Her little face appears out of the closet. The nut's clearly been stashed.] Oh? Why's that? It doesn't smell like any nuts I've seen before but it doesn't smell bad either.

[Duo moves his hand around on the bed for a moment, searching, before rolling and curling tighter around Hijiri.]

They are called Deku Nuts. They are somewhat explosive and will stun you if you are caught in the flash.

[Duo's movement catches Sheik's attention and gestures for Dieb to follow him out into the other room.] Come, little one. Let us leave them to their rest.

Oh, Kit has things like that and I'm not allowed to play with them. [Dieb goes to grab the nut and is careful following Sheik with it.]

A wise decision. [He perches on the edge of a chair and holds his hand out to the ferret.]

[Dieb crawls up, little claws digging in firmly and easily. She gives him back the nut by shoving it in his sleeve.] You should have more fun things on you. You're boring other wise. Unless you know some games. Then you might be fun instead.

I doubt I know anything you would find entertaining unless you have a liking for music.

Oh, you're boring then. You really don't have anything fun? You can't even play games? I'm going to go find something else then. [She hops down his arm to his lap and off to couch and the floor. She disappears around the furniture.]

... [All right then. Well, Sheik will be sticking around, like always, in case Duo or Hijiri needs him.]
