Back Again

[Duo lifts himself from the tunnel entrance and slips through the shadows of town on his way back to his house. The shadows aren't perfect so of course he can be spotted from time to time, but he's still pretty good with the stealth. He's also tired and smelly. A few days running around the tunnels and then moving boxes wore him out pretty well.]

[and still he has no idea when either Duo or Ryuhou will be back and he's bored, he's decided to give the whole house a good spring clean from top to bottom. Hijiri is currently in shorts, an old T-shirt and an apron, on his hands and knees scrubbing the bathroom floor.]

[Raivis has gotten rather good at checking shadows for Russias these days. He also for some reason seems to attract trauma on a dialy basis, so he's wandering around in the dark like a hopeless cause, trying to remember where his house is again. The poor thing is shaking like a leaf and whimpering a little, looking around in the dark when OH DEAR GOD WHAT. WHAT WAS THAT. HE SAW SOMEONE LURKING NNNNNGH.]

[Duo slips through their front door, not really thinking about the fact that he's not making a sound. He avoids the floorboards that squeak and slips into their room without any thought at all. He's too busy thinking about how great it is to be back. He stashes his bag and weapons in the the closet, checking his journal, and realizes that he has no idea where Hijiri would be. Well, at least this way he'll have a chance to clean up first. He heads to the bathroom on silent feet after taking his boots off in their room.]

[Duo slips out of the shadows slowly, looking around. When he sees who was talking, he smiles and relaxes.] Sorry. 's just me. Didn't mean ta scare anyone.

[Hijiri is now scrubbing the floor under the sink, back towards the door and still doesn't know there's someone else in the house]

[blinks a little, surprised by how jumpy and scared this kid is, but Yuri (the girl) was jumpy as well] I'm Duo Maxwell. I may run and hide, but I never tell a lie. Are ya lost?

[He smiles softly and rubs at his chest, just below his neck. He pulls out a small candy and offers it to the kid.] Well don't worry. Are you a new feather or do ya already have a place ya stay?

[Looks fearful when you pull something out of your shirt, like you're going to hand him a bomb or something, and looks briefly stunend when you give hi ma cadny instead. He takest hat from you with a trembling hand.] T-t-thank y-you...

[He now looks confused at the 'new feather' comment.]

[Duo just keeps smiling. A bomb from his clothing is actually very likely.] A New Feather's someone who just got here. Think you're new either way. Do you have a house yet? I can take ya there if ya have a number. If not, there's apartments you can stay in. You can always move if ya don't like it there.

[Duo stares at the sight for a moment, very happy to be back. His feet are still soft as he gets closer and kneels down behind Hijiri. He's not thinking about how badly he's going to scare his lover. He's just thinking about how badly he's missed him. He drapes himself over Hijiri's back before lowering himself and wrapping his arms around Hijiri's waist. Duo doesn't know, but this should keep Hijiri from jumping and bashing his head into the sink.] Missed ya, love.

[Hijiri tenses and he stops scrubbing when he feels someone right behind him. His heart starts racing and pounds in his ears. He quickly thinks of anything he can use as some sort of weapon, so he grabs the bottle of bathroom cleaner and removes the cap, ready to splash it into his would-be-attacker's face then kick whoever it is in the crotch and run. He's about to carry out that little defensive plan when familiar arms wrap round him then there's Duo's voice. He looks over his shoulder] D-Duo? Duo! [he smiles, relaxing a lot and lets go of the bottle, crawls out from other the sink and hugs him tightly] Duo... don't you ever do that again. I almost blinded you with bathroom cleaner.

What? [He has no idea what Hijiri's talking about. He really wasn't thinking about how he was walking around silently and just scared the crap out of his lover. That doesn't stop him from hugging back.]

[pulls away from the hug a bit and looks at him seriously for a moment] You scared me. Don't you usually announce your arrival? I didn't hear you come in and when I felt someone behind me I thought it was the Malnosso or something... I was going to splash that [points a gloved finger towards the strong cleaner] in your face and kick you in the crotch. Don't do anything like that again.

[Duo blinks, still a little confused, but things are starting to make sense in his mind.] Yeah... I usually do. Shit, glad I don't live with Heero and 'Fei. They woulda shot me 'fore I could even put my stuff down. Then, I woulda had to get damn close for them 'ta catch me. I'm glad ya didn't blind me. That burns like hell.

[and now he's smiling] I'm proud of you! I wasn't totally in work mode, but ya noticed me and ya made a plan ta fight me. I'm so damn proud of ya. That was a good plan too. My smart devil~
