Down, but Not Out

[Duo's been quiet for a while. He's been minding his own business and sitting in the clinic. He's been too tired and weak to do much besides healing and eating very small amounts of bland food. At least the clinic is full of nice people who help him. He's also been sticking close to the blinded Hijiri. He's worried about his lover and doing everything he can to watches out for him.

Still, it's time for him to return to their house. He's sick of being in the clinic. His hands are too sore to write.]

Can someone help Hijiri and I get back to our house? I'm sick a bein' here, nice as Kam and everyone is. Just don't like clinics.

Also, I need to talk to the followin' people 'fore somethin' else happens to me. Don't know if ya guys are still 'round.

Allen, Haine, Leto, Sasarai, Uriko, and Val. Also, can you come check on me, Kam? Need ta talk to ya too.

[Duo gets up, dressed and armed so that he's ready to go when Sheik gets there. He also helps Hijiri who's doing pretty well for being blind.]

[Sheik, true to his word, comes in a short while later. He knocks lightly on the doorframe to announce himself.]

Duo, Hijiri?

[Hijiri tries not to depend too much on Duo as he gets dressed and prepared to leave. He turns toward the sound of Sheik's voice, remembering to keep his now useless eyes closed]

Hey, Sha- Sheik. [Duo assumes Sheik really wouldn't like to share that particular nickname.] Think we're ready ta go. Just need someone ta lean on.

[He nods and takes a quick look around the room to make sure before going to Duo's side. He figures the two boys will want to stay as close to each other as possible.]

[Duo throws an arm over Sheik's taller shoulders. The poor guy's going to have to bed down for this. Duo also tangles his fingers with Hijiri's, and starts telling himself how he's going to have to direct Hijiri and make sure he doesn't run into anything on the way.] Least it won't be too far so ya won't have ta carry us. I should be able ta make it that far.

(ooc: I have permission to godmod Hijiri a little. I figured this was an okay place to slip in an extra Duo.)

[he lets Duo hold his hand and helps him get up the best he can]

[Sheik ought to be fine. He's a lot stronger than he looks and he's really not that much taller than Duo... He slips an arm around Duo's waist to support him.]

[Like before, when he had guided Hijiri back to the clinic, he'll be giving out verbal directions and warnings, not just for Hijiri's sake, but for Duo as well.]

[Thought he was taller. Must be the long legs.] Well, let's get the show on the road.

[Like he can actually go by himself, Duo starts walking toward the door and directing them through doors, down the road, and through town. He slowly gets quieter and quieter, colder and colder, as he runs out of energy. He's determined to get back to their house though.]

[Hijiri follows their directions while holding Duo's hand tightly. He quickens his pace when he feels Duo's hand getting colder]

[He's a head shorter than Link in-game. I checked.]

[Sheik picks up on Duo's flagging energy as well and decides to stop them a moment.]

Duo, are you all right? Do you need to rest a moment? [He'd rather not have to pick him up and carry him if he can help it.]

[Now I want to play the game, but not just to check, it's just the best game ever.]

[Duo shakes his head at the second question.] 's cold out here, just hurry up. [Duo will slip into a hypnotized state where all he's thinking about is putting the next foot in front of the other.]

[squeezes Duo's hand a bit and asks either Sheik or Duo] How much further is it?

Not much farther, Hijiri. [He reaches over and gives his shoulder a light pat.]

[Through the rest of the trip, Sheik keeps a careful eye on Duo and decides that the first place he's going is to bed.]

[Duo's not going to fight. He'll practically collapse through their door. Well, he wouldn't mind a bath, but he'd probably drown himself in there. He's sweaty and panting, but he made it.]

[he nods]

[Hijiri is almost pulled down with him and lets out a startled cry then he holds Duo up]

[Sheik lets out a sigh and gently guides the two of them to their room and Duo straight to bed. He doesn't say anything, just lets them catch their breath.]

[The closet door creeks open a little and a little brown streak hops up onto the bed and onto it's occupants. At least someone seems to have energy to spare. A certain little ferret is "dancing" on the bed now, hopping between them and chittering loudly.] It's about time you kits got back. Do you have any idea how quiet it is here without you two? Where have you been? You were kidnapped, right? Are you okay? You're going to stay right?

[Duo just blinks at her, happy, but too tired to do much with her.]

[Action]

[Hijiri settles down on the bed with Duo, still holding his hand close then looks over at Dieb's chittering] We're fine, Dieb... just need some rest.

[Action]

[...Well this is new. Sheik sits on the other side of Duo and watches the excitable creature. He's seen her before, but he'd never been entirely sure if she was Duo's or not.]

They are all right, little one. I doubt either will be leaving any time soon.

[Action]

[Duo slides his free hand out to reach for Sheik.] Tired, Dieb. Keep it down.

But you've been gone so long. I want to play with you. Can't we go steal things? Pretty please? I want to play. And where have you been?

Dieb, please. Please let Duo rest. He's been through a lot. [hugs Duo close]

[Sheik takes Duo's hand and scoops up Dieb.] Leave them be, little one.

[Duo sighs happily with Hijiri's arms around him and Sheik's hand in his. At least he can be sure two of the people important to him are safe. Even Dieb seems to be the same. All and all, things are pretty good for the pilot.]

[Dieb's still too excited to understand that she needs to calm down. She starts climbing all over Sheik's arm, sniffing and trying to get into this clothes to look for goodies.] But I wanna play. I've been so bored. Why can't I play? Kit's being boring again. He didn't even bring me any treats after being gone so long. He's always leaving me behind. He should look for me harder.

(ooc: Dieb likes to figure out what people smell like and name them because of it. What would Sheik smell like? Duo smells like blood, gunpowder, and death to give you some idea.)
